Presence of .lock files

I noticed 4 ".lock" file under /var/qmail/control directory. It was created
when I first created the virtualdomains. In version 4.94, these files does
not seems to exist. Why in version 4.98, these files are there?


Can anyone shed some light? Can I delete these files?
