After musing on the mailing list and searching efnet, courier's website, and
two or three smtp auth websites, I have dismal news. No SMTP authentication
patch I can find works with vchkpw/vpopmail in its current incarnation.
Being, unfortunatley, not a elite hacker/coder, I'm not in a position to
make one either. =(. Anyway, being pragmatic, here goes: Is there a utility
around to convert a vchkpw password db to checkpassword format? Then one
could use the basic smtp-auth patch, and just copy your user info into
checkpassword format and work around it that way.

I find it a little surprsing, what with all the spam these days, and the
issues between MAPS and ORBS, that there isnt a lot of concern over securing
SMTP servers. Then again, maybe everyone uses --enable-roaming-users and
POP. But an IMAP compatible solution should exsist somewhere.

Otherwise, my qmail/qmailadmin/vpopmail/courier-imap mailserver is working
great. Just like to give thanks to kbo, djb, mrsam, and all the other ppl
who gave us this alternative to Sendmail.

Thanks,

Jacob
