After installing 3.1.2 and it's GuestAdditions (see below), no change. BTW, Fedora12 x86_64 VM on openSUSE 11.2 so as not to lose the thread. * I used nmap to verify the VM was up and had a reachable IP address. * ssh into the VM and mounted the GuestAdditions 3.1.2 that was configured as CD/DVD. From the ssh login executed "init 3", which then also got me into VC mode on the VM. * "./VBoxLinuxAdditions-amd64.run" then rebooted, no change. * "./VBoxLinuxAdditions-amd64.run uninstall". The "uninstall" is not on the options list, just a SWAG (Tm Amdahl) on my part ... a Scientific Wild Ass Guess that is. * Rebooted and it's up and logged into KDE. On previous occasions I used the Fedora12 iso and did a fresh install over the old one in order to get the distro up again, but this time I wanted to see if there was a way to avoid trashing the install.
