Hello, David --
I think that you have written very helpfully and entirely correctly.  It 
is not quite "intuitive" that a bigger and better environment can 
actually compromise performance, but I think that you are right.  I 
will observe that there WAS a brief time when a LOT of the installation 
was in progress and the speed was just about what I would have expected 
on my laptop in its heyday!  But the problems returned.  I have some 
very specific technical support "issues" which are being addressed by 
those best able to do so.  I thought I might "look ahead" for some ways 
to enhance performance.  I am not yet sure that emulation is the best 
approach, but I will CERTAINLY consider it as things develop.  THANK 
YOU for your VERY helpful observations and suggestions!!!
