Here's some more information. I'm trying to install guest additions on a live Linux guest. The addition were built but could not be installed because the distribution is an unpopular one. The install script printed a message saying that I have to install the /etc/init.d/vboxadd file myself and then restart the system. However, if I restart the live system this file will be lost (since the additions reside in memory only). Instead, I executed '/etc/init.d/vboxadd start'; it printed a message saying that it has started the additions. Then I noticed that a new device had appeared -- /dev/vboxadd. Next, I added a shared folder, but it did not appear in /dev. My question is how I can make use of shared folders from a live Linux guest. Regards, Angel Tsankov
