Just to be sure: You have two interfaces on the HOST (ethernet and wireless), and run a VM with hostinterface set on the ethernet interface. And your interface is down (no cable connected, e.g.). And then you want to connect to your VM on port 80 (or similar), to some kind of Web interface. Right? Maybe read the thread "Using VMs with Hostinterface with both LAN and WLAN" starting with Message-ID <[email protected]>. I had a similar issue, solution would be to use two adapters in the VM, one for each host interface, and do some kind of failover.
