When using KDE there is a folder called ~/.kde/Autostart/, where  you
can put your scripts into. I assume GNOME has something similar.

KDE also has a folder named ~/.kde_logout or similar, where you can put
scripts to be run at logout. I do not know if it "works", i.e. if KDE
waits long enough to shutdown VB.
