Since DHCP servers are rather critical things (if configured incorrectly 
they can even confuse the host), it's probably the best to use Internal 
Networking. See the VirtualBox manual.

That corresponds exactly to what you've drawn (took me a while to realize).

If you need internet connectivity just slap a second card into the VM, 
for maximum safety use NAT. Virtual NICs don't cost anything, and the 
cables are also for free (and take up no space).
