The problem with VirtualBox is you can't have two VM's mount the same
VDI.  You could do it with a raw device and you'd have to each VM
install a Clustered File System - theoretically it should work.

Apparently VMware Server makes it very simple to implement the `shared
disk' 

I'm in the process of setting it up now.  Although I took a wrong turn
when I installed the 2.0 version of VMware Server - ugh, it's awful.
