I'm disabled and use speech recognition. I've been running Win XP in VM Ware
workstation and using speech recognition in that environment rather
successfully. It's faster and more stable than what you get with native
Windows.

I was interested in trying virtual box for the same application because,
disabled people don't have a lot of money and it would be nice to give them a
good working environment for not a lot of money, energy or time. Remember, if
your hands hurt all the time, it saps your energy and you find yourself doing
something else rather than straining your hands. if you are installing Windows
fresh into virtual box, it's a very nice user experience and something most hand
disabled people can work with.

The big problem is most of us use USB microphones and any distortion in the
audio stream ruins recognition. as I discovered last night, and much to my
dismay, audio via USB is choppy. Import or output, it sounds the same. It gets
worse with disk I/O although that might be my laptop interfering somewhat as
well. on my machine, I was able to reproduce the problem without fail. It was
clearly audible on audio output (play music through Windows media player).
through some of the tools of NaturallySpeaking, I could hear the recorded audio
input sound choppy as well.

I know USB is complex and can be difficult to work with. I'm hoping someone can
fix this problem so we can have an option for virtual machines.

thanks
