Hi all, i am pleased to announce the first beta release of uWSGI 0.9.7 This is a massive rewrite of all the internals to improve performance, reliability and support for more languages/platform. The server is now fully modular allowing customized builds (even without python) and dynamic loading of features.
This is the first release supporting threads (in addition to preforking, async and uGreen modes) and with a fully working Clustering infrastructure. http://projects.unbit.it/uwsgi/wiki/Clustering A shared dictionary, called the "uwsgi cache" has been added, allowing fast storage of data in the process address space. (warning, a lof of limits of the first implementation has been removed) http://projects.unbit.it/uwsgi/wiki/CachingFramework Another important feature is the removal of the threaded HTTP server, in favour of a more advanced evented HTTP router/proxy that can be used in production environments. The Emperor mode is a new feature for allowing mass automated hosting of apps. Python support has been improved in all areas (from threading to multiple interpreter/apps). Another interesting inclusion is RubyOnRails/Rack support http://projects.unbit.it/uwsgi/wiki/RubyOnRails http://projects.unbit.it/uwsgi/wiki/Rack The Erlang support has been rewritten but it is still uncomplete. Lua and PSGI plugins are fully usable but they do not export all the uwsgi api functions. A RPC framework (callable from erlang nodes too) has been added http://projects.unbit.it/uwsgi/wiki/RPC Documentation (as always ;) ) is not updated This is a brief Changelog - fully modular re-design - advanced build system with presets - threading support - support for multiple sockets - emperor mode for massive auto-hosting - caching subsystem - message queue (even stacked) support - improved server reloading system - support for Linux Cgroups and Namespaces - integrated upload progress - Clustering infrastructure via multicast, broadcast or subscriptions - support for attaching/monitoring external apps to the master process - improved virtualhosting mode - extremely improved Python support with better usage of multiple interpreters - improved multiple apps support - Production ready, evented HTTP router/proxy/load-balancer - Production ready, evented uwsgi router/proxy/load-balancer - new Erlang stack - Internal signal subsystem - support for RubyOnRails and Rack apps - A huge series of fixes and optimizations Sadly there are broken areas: - async and uGreen support are still not ported to the new api - OpenBSD and NetBSD support is broken - syslog support requires more testing - undiscovered bug all over the place ;) You can download it from http://projects.unbit.it/downloads/uwsgi-0.9.7-beta1.tar.gz Every report will be wellcomed.
