Wearing my OpenEmbedded hat, here is the release schedule for the meta
data used to build the Linux distro:

https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Releases

Releases are only supported by the Yocto Project for about 18 months.
Beyond that is up to interested in members of the community to provide
support. Support means, bug fixes, security fixes, and general house
cleaning. (Note you typically need to use a container to build Jethro
due to host tool version issues)

You can check if there is active work by checking the commit log:

https://github.com/openembedded/openembedded-core/commits/jethro

Which suggests no major players are providing support.

This lack of support post shipment is not a unique problem to Ettus, it
is industry wide. The only way to change this is complain loudly to the
people that matter, so don't beat up engineering teams :) Sales and
marketing need to know that long term product support matters.

As I mentioned in my GRCon lightening talk, getting patches upstream and
working against recent software (be it kernels or OpenEmbedded metadata)
leaves more time for people to do interesting SDR work, and less time
doing the software vendors job for them.
