I'm guessing you haven't looked at the source for this yet. org.apache.catalina.connector#addHeader(String,String) is a NOOP. It was removed for Tomcat 7. You want: request.getCoyoteRequest().getMimeHeaders().setValue(str).setString(str) This will work for 6 and 7.
