That can't be: it's a recent download of jdk-6u24-windows-i586.exe and I just performed a clean reinstall. I made sure the c:\Java\j2sdk1.6.0 was empty first.
What happens if you enter the following from a command prompt: C:\Java\j2sdk1.6.0\bin\java -server -version
Looks perfectly normal: java version "1.6.0_24" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_24-b07) Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 19.1-b02, mixed mode)
Is it possible this is a 64-bit JDK on a 32-bit XP?
