I usually use the zip distribution and 1) copy the necessary files and standard webapps, 2) clean the /work folder. That said, "your mileage may vary". If you are hesitant it might be more convenient to uninstall previous version and install new one and reapply your changes. See archives of this list, this question was asked many times. Note: If you are using Nio connector, please wait for 6.0.31 (will be soon). There is a regression in 6.0.30 that can lead to out-of-memory errors.
