Try checking the changelog. Tomcat 4.x isn't listed on the home page any
longer, but you can find release dates for, say, 5.5, on this page:

http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.5-doc/changelog.html

Note that the most recent (5.5.31) version's release date isn't listed
because it hasn't yet been released.
