I use OpenSuSE for development and production and I'm very happy with it. YaST is very simple to use and it changes very little from release to release. I used to use RedHat and it seemed like how you configured the system changed on every release. My servers stay up for months at a time. Most of my production servers have been up for more than six months. I do have to re-start tomcat every couple of weeks or so.
