I didn't mention it, because I always refer to a single manager directory, i.e. the default one, which works fine for me. Perhaps it didn't work for Alexander because he used /manager instead of /manager/html to access it? (All the Tomcat distributions I worked with have this link wrong too: try to click the /manager link in the manager application.)
