fyi, i finally figured out what i was doing wrong. When building the tomcat
native connector i didn't include the '--with-ssl=yes' option ... see below
the correct command configure command:
# Build the Tomcat native connector.
cd tomcat-native-*-src/jni/native
JAVA_HOME="%{java_home}" ./configure \
--prefix=%{home} \
--with-apr=/usr/bin/apr-1-config \
--with-ssl=yes
make
Hope this helps others with similar issue I had!
