Actually, they are potentially helpful and I didn't find them rude at all.

So does running buggy software with unpatched security holes. I'm not
saying that Tomcat 4.1 is buggy and/or riddled with security holes, but
running anything no longer actively maintained is asking for trouble.
Try justifying running a risky application server to your ops team.

You're right: Windows 2000 runs perfectly fine. Why would anyone ever
upgrade to a more recent version? UNIX SVr2 wasn't broken, either. New
features and continued maintenance causes users to upgrade.
