Does the APR keep-alive poller have any effect if AJP (native jk connector so that web server can be used) is *not* used? Are all the underlying sockets managed by the poller even if AJP is not in use? This isn't clear in the Professional Tomcat 6 book (only reference other than online docs I have, even though I'm configured with Tomcat 5.5.27 at the moment-yes there are noted config differences between 5.5 and 6.0 J).
There would appear to be the avoidance of context switches between native sockets, presumably, and the Java VM as that VM code (Base11 connector?-if Apr11 is config'd, i.e. tcnative-1.dll isn't loaded) isn't handling the sockets. Is this true? Does anyone have some experience they can share? Thanks, Derrick
