That's because top, ps, and the Windows equivalents show only the initial 
executable, not the shared library names where the functionality is actually 
implemented.  There are many different launchers that will get you into the 
JVM, such as java.exe, javaw.exe, javac.exe, jar.exe, jstack.exe, jps.exe, 
jconsole.exe, etc., including tomcat6.exe.
