Agreed. Leon, can you provide some justification for that claim? Presumably, the JVM uses the standard C library calls so coding C directly to the C library will be faster than the JVM intervening and translating those calls into C-library calls. The JIT can only optimize so much. I'm not saying that Java is definitely slower just because it's Java, but I suspect that "Java outperforms C for I/O" is just as apocryphal. - -chris -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAkmJ0wEACgkQ9CaO5/Lv0PBv/QCgu5OFz0WXP/kN1eGy7kGvDhlB Yl4AoKZjSEC9l26M15fHF1xswaSRZh3J =uapP -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@tomcat.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@tomcat.apache.org
