Apache HTTP + Tomcat + SSL

Hello,
What ist he "best-practice" to use SSL with a Frontend Apache Webserver and a 
mod_jk connected Tomcat? Define the SSL in Tomcat or in Apache Frontend? Has 
the SSL functions to be enabled on Tomcat?
