I just tried that and it worked!
Then, I tried it by issuing:
sh $CATALINA_HOME/bin/startup.sh
and it worked again!
I don't know what was wrong with it (I did reboot my computer, but
don't know how much that helps)...
Well, it wasn't working before, so I don't know what fixed it, but I
am happy that's fixed, nonetheless!

In case you missed Chuck's previous suggestion. Try a
cd /DevTools/Java/Tomcat/apache-tomcat-5.5.25/bin
first.
