Thank's for the advice, I'll look into those. fyi, I put my web app on Glassfish and it works again. A little more background, I was sending the request via javascript to the struts controller servlet, and trying to return the response from the action or forwarding to a jsp. It worked for a while, then stopped working. I was able to run Ajax calls with other web apps, but when I copied their code into the malfunctioning web app, the calls failed just as I described earlier. I also turned caching off in the pragma and header.
