ensure
environment variable CATALINA_HOME is set for starting and stopping all
catalina connector modules
environment variable CATALINA_BASE is set for defining a base folder for
relatively locating conf,log,webapps,shared,work,temp folder
http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-4.1-doc/RUNNING.txt
Personally I would install Tomcat to a completely clean folder to avoid these
sceanrios
Anyone else?
