We had the same symptoms reported last March with the 5.5.16 Windows .exe download: http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=39041 The problem appears to have been caused by someone somewhere along the way doing an ASCII-mode FTP of the un-jar'd class files to a Windows box, and the Windows FTP client graciously converted all the line feed bytes to carriage return / line feed pairs. Since 5.5.20 has been out for some time with no one else reporting this problem, is it possible that your installation went through that kind of scenario? You might try downloading a fresh copy of 5.5.20 directly onto the Solaris box and see if the problem disappears. - Chuck THIS COMMUNICATION MAY CONTAIN CONFIDENTIAL AND/OR OTHERWISE PROPRIETARY MATERIAL and is thus for use only by the intended recipient.
