I've successfully installed TomCat on my IBM mainframe system that runs z/OS 1.7. When I start my web server and use a URL with :8080 specified for the port, Tomcat catches it just fine. From this default web page, I click on Manager. After providing my user ID and password, I then see a screen with many applications, which I can click on to see what happens, things like jsp-examples, tomcat-docs, etc. One of them is manager, which displays a screen telling me that this application was not found. I went back to the apache website and found an embedded applications download. I downloaded this and have found that it contains the manager web applications. Unfortunately, I find that the CATALINA_HOME in this zip file is not what was in my initial download of tomcat itself. Tomcat itself has a home directory of apache-tomcat-5.5.17, but the imbedded applications that has the manager application has a CATALINA_HOME of apache-tomcat-5.5.17-embedded. How do I install this? It needs to go into my CATALINA_HOME, but tar (that is, jar) will simply create a directory of apache-tomcat-5.5.17-embedded, which tomcat will not be looking at. Did anyone else run into this?
