From my understanding Tomcats jvmRoute generates the Session ID so it would follow that the 'same route' would generate the same session

Hi, Don't know about FireFox, but for IE the way you start it makes a difference. If you start a new IE window using the File menu, and then "new"->"window", or just CTRL+N, the new IE window will share any sessions with the one you're opening it from. Of you start a new IE window from your desktop or any other shortcut, the new window will start new session.
