It was the firewall.
I thought about it and I thought I was disabling it temporarily by flushing
iptables (iptables -F).
But apparently it's not enough...
Do you know the command for disabling the firewall completely (and
temporarily) without having to reboot?

I just added an exception for port 443.
It looks like it's working now.
