Do you have a the right version of JRE installed? Also did you mention to tomcat that you are using this JRE? open monito tomcat right click on it, and pick configure click on the java tab enter a line like this in the Java Virtual Machine "D:\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll" it depends where you jvm is installed.
