How about:

web.xml:
<error-page>
  <exception-type>java.lang.Throwable</exception-type>
  <location>/WEB-INF/uncaught-error.html</location>
</error-page>

uncaught-error.html:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head><title>Error</title></head>
<body>
  <h1>Error</h1>
  <p>
    Aw, crap.
  </p>
</body>
</html>

You can put anything in there you want, man. If the stack trace seems
too ugly for you (it really is, honestly), then replace it with
something else.
