Hi ! I have a similar question. I see that Solaris 10 becoming open.
So, it's +1 candidate to use  as Linux or BSD alternative. Due both
Solaris and Java from Sun, can one hope for extra performance, etc ?
Is it really make sense to use Solaris for application server ? I'll
wonder if there are no benefits of using both things from Sun at the
same time.
