In short - that depends!
What are your requirements for load balancing, fault tolerance etc? What
kind of rig are we talking about, how many concurrent users do you
expect,...
That said I prefer to install Tomcat and DB on different machines. This
allows you to scale Tomcat and DB servers indepently as well as upgrade
either and simply swith the other machines to point at the upgraded
servers. However dont go for seperate Tomcat and DB servers if you havent
got a decent LAN.
Limitation of Tomcat 5.0.16???

A- Having Database (SQL server) and Tomcat on the same box.
B- on separate boxdes
