I've not experienced this as common to JDBC. I've also not had the same issue with MS SQL. I have had issues like this when using JDBC-ODBC bridge, but not the MS SQL JDBC Driver itself. I've experienced this with Access and FoxPro using JDBC-ODBC as well.
