Hi! I've written an application that accesses files on other computers on the network. Thus, the user running Tomcat has to have permissions to access these other computers.
So, when running Tomcat as a Windows service, I use a user with permission to log on. To set the user, I'm using the configuration tool (usually) found at Start->Programs->Apache Tomcat 5.0->Configure Tomcat. In this tool, I set the user to be me (i.e. the user logged on to Windows), and then push the Start button to start Tomcat. But when I look in Task Manager, I see that the user running the tomcat5.exe process isn't me but "SYSTEM". Which means my web application fails to get access to other computers on the network. At least I believe that is the case, because if I start Tomcat manually (either through startup.bat or tomcat5.exe), my web application do have access to other computers to which I have access (and in Task Manager I see that the user running tomcat5.exe is me, not "SYSTEM"). Any ideas what's wrong and how to fix? Don't know much about these things so any help appreciated! And yes, I've googled, to no avail. Using XP and Tomcat 5.0.
