I believe the locking ended up being forced on the project by Tapestry 5
not getting a different name when it was first introduced. I believe Howard
himself told this (Tapestry 5 not having a different name) was an error
once in this mailing list. Also, the sequence of non-backward compatible
versions, including at least one complete rewrite. Well, being a bad idea
or not, I believe we're stuck with that. Otherwise, we would be just adding
to the confusion, not to mention breaking a promise we've made a number of
times in this mailing list. Tapestry is already a niche, small community,
and breaking promises doesn't help in avoiding getting it even smaller.
