Hi!

Thanks everyone for the amazing discussion and suggestions we had in the book proposal thread. It's got invaluable feedback and insights, for me and for the Tapestry project itself. Thanks again!

As I already feared before starting the book thread, there wouldn't be enough interest for the book to make its writing financially feasible. As Alessio said, also my own experience writing textbooks (Java, OOP, Hibernate, Spring, Ant, Tapestry), writing a book is a huge commitment and it takes a lot of time. I'd be quite happy to do it, but, as everyone here, I have bills to pay.

From my personal view point, here's the deal, the idea behind my book proposal: my current gig is unfortunately ending this month after more than 3 years. I thought that I could take some weeks to do something useful for the Apache Tapestry project I love so much, but, this time, not just in my free time. I agree that, for the project standpoint, the best scenario is to have more and better documentation. On the other hand, I cannot spend weeks of non-vacation time improving it without earning money to pay my bills and etc. I hope you guys understand that. I'll continue trying to contribute to the Tapestry project in my free time just as I've happily been doing in the last years. I was just trying to expand it to my non-free time as well, even if it was for a handful of weeks or less.

Meanwhile, I'm using my free time to write a soon-to-be open source blog engine (with some CMS stuff) written in Tapestry to use for my personal blog which, of course, will be mostly about Tapestry. :)

By the way, I'll soon have my whole schedule free for *your* projects. :) If you need someone with deep Java, Tapestry, Hibernate, OOP experience, with also other skills such as JavaScript, CSS, HTML, XML, XSLT (see my page in LinkedIn [1]), be it as a consultant or as part of the team, here I am. :)
