Thanks for your answers everyone!

I have actually tried Howard's advice in both versions: Adjusting the
Strategy Symbol to my new "mySession" strategy and also by directly setting
@Persist("mySession").
In both cases, I got this error:
 org.apache.tapestry5.ioc.internal.util.TapestryException: Error persisting
field SignUp:userSession: 'mySession' is not a defined persistent strategy.
Somehow I must be doing something wrong in adding the configuration, no?

@joshcanfield: I want to persist the data in Amazon's DynamoDB.
