... why not use the hidden form component? That's what I typically use when I 
have a value that needs to be available to component later... unless your 
component doesn't have a template. :)  But you could still generate a hidden 
field.  Of course, if you aren't using a template and you generate a hidden 
field to store your action, you will need to provide a ComponentAction to 
retrieve that value at form submission time. ;)
