Thanks, Stefan, but I'm asking specifically for the integration with
Tapestry. As I said, the library you mentioned as well as others I've found
changes and monitor the URL. But what would be the best way of integrating
this with Tapestry? I think I should override or wrap some Tapestry
JavaScript functions, but what is the recommended extension point here?

P.S.: other cool libraries I've found are
http://www.asual.com/jquery/address/ and
http://benalman.com/projects/jquery-bbq-plugin/ , both as jQuery plugins :(
P.S.2: I don't want to use jQuery together with Prototype... I really want
to switch to jQuery but I'm waiting Tapestry gives the possibility of
choosing between these two frameworks...
