LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER 

Interactive Factory is a client-oriented business creating custom design and 
software for over 15 years. As a leader in reference and academic publishing, 
we work on some of the most respected projects in the field and are building 
the next generation of online publishing applications. Our new platform, 
PubFactory, is proving to be a game-changer for many publishers. 

We are looking for talented, passionate software engineers to join our team 
developing SQL and XML database-driven web applications from concept to release 
in small, collaborative teams. You will work with a talented group of experts 
in design, engineering, and project management. We are located in Boston's 
historic Fort Point Channel area, close to public transportation at South 
Station. 




Responsibilities: 

    • 

Working with the project manager to lead and manage a small team of software 
engineers and the overall software development process 
    • 

Ensuring the software architecture addresses technical risks and project 
requirements 
    • 

Overall code quality of the project through your own development and the 
mentoring of others 


Requirements: 

    • 

Experience with Java 5+ and modern Java web frameworks and libraries. 3+ years 
experience developing Java-based, database-driven web applications. 
    • 

Experience building software end-to-end (full SDLC); working with 
clients/stakeholders, writing specifications, designing & building software, 
and maintenance 
    • 

A passion for software and learning new technologies 


    • 

XML technologies such as XML, XSLT, and XQuery (MarkLogic, eXist or other XML 
content repositories a plus) 
    • 

SQL and relational databases (Hibernate or another ORM a plus) 


Nice-to-haves (for the ideal candidate): 

    • 

Experience working within an agile process (Scrum, XP, etc) 
    • 

Experience with Test-Driven Development and related technologies (JUnit, 
Selenium, etc)

QA Engineer

We are looking for an experienced, passionate QA Engineer to lead in increasing 
software quality across the board at iFactory. You will work with software 
engineers, project managers, HTML production, designers, and sales to define, 
enforce, and automate high quality output and improve our QA tools, process, 
and knowledge. This is a great opportunity for a capable and driven person to 
affect change and help create something beautiful. 



Requirements: 

    • 

An almost unreasonable passion for quality 
    • 

Deep understanding of QA process, both manual and automated 
    • 

Experience with a wide range of tools from home-grown to well-known for testing 
software and web applications 
    • 

Excellent communication skills and the ability to produce documentation such as 
test plans. Experience writing specifications/business requirements a plus. 
    • 

Experience writing automated tests with tools like JUnit, TestNG, 
Selenium/WebDriver, EasyMock, etc 
    • 

Knowledge of multiple languages (Java required) and the ability to learn 
quickly 


Experience with the following a plus: 

Selenium, Hudson, EasyMock, .Net, NUnit, SVN/Git/version control,
