I'm working on the same problem. (as i mentioned in some posts before)

I think the best, or most common and stable solution would be to extend
the always existing infrastructure to be able to register own datatypes and their view/edit components. But is that possible? And how? All involved sources (PropertyEditor, BeanBlockSource etc) are internal
and i don't know where to "hook" in.
