That's the reason why I left them and never looked back. Same with Strato - there was a clear hardware problem (kernel segfault while booting) and they needed 2 whole days to replace the hardware. No possibility to bring over the old harddrive which was in perfect state... they just gave me a new server. After that I switched to Hetzner and they really impressed me with their level of support and customizing possibilities. If there is any problem, you can get someone on the phone who has physical access to the machine and knows what he does.. no callcenter standard-answers and solutions - huge advantage to me. If you have a problem it gets solved. No protocol to follow, no time consuming test suites that need to confirm your problem. They also give you a LARA and plug in an USB-Drive if you need to install/recover not official supported OSes like Solaris. It's possible to get an own private switch and 2 ethernet cards in your servers. And you may reserve additional rackspace if you think you need to grow in the future and add more servers to "your" switch. The own subnet is handy as well - especially if you plan to virtualize your servers. For me that's the perfect level of possibilities and possibilities.
