I was playing around with the 5.0.8 snapshot and it looks like an effort has been made to compact the html. The problem is that it's a little over-zealous about the job and spaces between text nodes and elements are removed.
For example: Click this <a href="...">Link</a> becomes Click this<a href="...">Link</a> which looks like Click thisLink in the browser...
