Regarding async file upload, take a look at
http://trac.dojotoolkit.org/ticket/524

Dojo eventually dropped support for file uploading + returning text/xml
responses
due to it not working nicely in all browsers. And since the
AjaxDirectService needed
text/xml, it can't handle file uploads...

There are workarounds, but nothing got implemented - I hope we tackle this
in
Tap4.1.x :)

As for AjaxSubmitEvent, it was renamed to AjaxEventSubmit in the latest
tacos versions...
