I think tapestry-flash (http://howardlewisship.com/tapestry-javaforge/tapestry-flash/) is the answer to your question (it stores a value in the session but removes it after it is first read), but tapestry-flash is for Tapestry 4. As far as I know, it will be implemented in Tapestry 5 soon. :)
