Is this possible? It sounds like you're thinking about this in the reverse of the way that subversion usually works. Usually the latest code appears in trunk first. Then it is copied from there to a tag when it is considered stable.  Here you are speaking of third-party software rather than something you developed yourself but the idea is similar.  This section of the book is applicable: Vendor Branches svnbook.red-bean.com When I managed vendor branches in my repositories before I used this script: subversion/contrib/client-side/svn_load_dirs/svn_load_dirs.pl.in at trunk · apache/subversion github.com I don't see that script mentioned in that book section anymore so I don't know if its use has been superseded by other built-in subversion features now.
