In searching the list archives I found no definitive single solution to this problem but it seems to be an issue when the server has a problem obtaining a file lock on the server filesystem. If your server is running Windows, perhaps an anti-virus type software is running on the server and gets in the way of the server process. On any server OS if your repository is hosted on a network file system perhaps there was a problem obtaining a file lock across the network? Wish I had better suggestions but think the problem is with your server and the file system that the repositories are stored on. This particular error message has only been posted a couple times in the past. My guess is that the code tries to get a lock and fails and then maybe the error message is written the way it is because whoever wrote the code assumed it failed to get a lock because it was already locked. If the problem is anti-virus that could be true as the A/V software may have started scanning the files and is preventing the SVN server from locking them. We certainly see that type problem happen in working copies on Windows fairly regularly. -- Thanks Mark Phippard
